Why Places.cy

Ever turned up to find it closed?

The pin pointed to the wrong street. The hours were last year's. Nobody mentioned it closes for the winter. Maps and directories are useful until their information goes out of date, and in Cyprus, with its seasonal rhythms, that happens a lot.

Places.cy is being built to fix that, with a focus on getting the basics right and keeping them right.

  • Outdated opening hoursTimes that were never updated after a change of season, owner or schedule.
  • Pins in the wrong placeLocations on the wrong street, or with no clue where the way in is.
  • Missing detailsHoliday closures, half days and seasonal breaks that nobody mentions.

What's coming

What we're building

Places.cy is in development. These are the features we're working towards for launch and beyond.

  • Accurate locations

Business locations placed where they really are, with notes on which door to use and how to get in.

  • Hours you can trust

Opening hours that cover the full picture: seasonal schedules, public holidays and half days.

  • What's open nearby

See what's open around you right now, wherever you are on the island.

  • Every kind of place

Restaurants, shops, services, attractions and more, in one place and easy to browse.

  • Community corrections

Spotted something wrong or missing? Suggest a place or a fix, and help keep information accurate for everyone.

  • Owner-managed listings

Business owners will be able to claim their listing and keep their own hours and details up to date.
